My word for today is mizzle, meaning light rain; drizzle. I thought of this word last week when, at times, it was decidedly mizzly.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, its origin is late Middle English, probably from mist. In German there is miseln and in Dutch miezelen.
Mizzle seems to sum up this type of rain well, expressing the mood of drizzling, persistent rain so well.

‘Bettys’ parcel brings joy.
Yesterday, we went to visit Scone Palace and had just arrived, when so did the rain. A great cry went up from several of the peacocks who call the place home. As I turned, I saw this peacock hop into the tree. I quickly took a photo before we sought our own shelter in the café. Not the greatest photo but it made me smile.
