I first became interested in writing at the age of eleven. The teacher asked us to write a story about being one inch tall. I imagined what the classroom would look like. Pencil case zip became train track and train. I set off on an adventure, both in terms of the story and a lifetime love of creative writing.
I’m now retired, work in a local charity shop once a week and devote much more time to writing. I live in Nottingham with my partner and two rescue cats, Benjamin and Isabella. I love reading; crime dramas; the countryside; holidays, especially in Scotland (my dad was Scottish) and spending time with family and friends. Nottingham is a great place to live and I’m proud to be in a place known as the rebel city because, throughout history, it has stood for justice.
My dream, since writing that first story many years ago, was to write a children’s book. It took a long, long time to realise that dream but I have now done it. There are several strands to the inspiration for The Clocker – my debut children’s book. Being a single parent to my now grown-up daughter; owning rescue hens when I had a garden big enough to house them and watching my two grandsons engaging with the hens. The Clocker is a middle-grade children’s book published 28th April 2026. See more in My books here: https://mywordshare.wordpress.com/my-books/
Something that not everyone knows about me is that I edited three editions of Margaret Thornby’s Guide to the Tearooms of Britain. Linked to this, I edited and produced Tea Magazine for five years. I love tea and have been fortunate enough to visit Sri Lanka twice, once on a tea tour, which was a fascinating insight into the production of tea.

Over the years, I have written poems, short stories, memoir pieces and articles.
